The majority of new installations utilize Cat6 cabling for horizontal cabling to the station although more and more are transitioning to Cat 7 wires. Cat 7 and Cat6 cabling improves upon the performance of Cat5e, providing performance up to up to 1 gigabit per second (Gbps) supporting communications at more than twice the speed of CAT5e.
